I am in a study mode...

The world's great men have not commonly been great scholars, nor its great scholars great men. by Oliver Wendell Holmes.

i like this quote. it is because, i know i'm not the best student and all i did was up to my very best. and yes, it doesn't mean that although my grades aren't good, i'm no good, but what comes in all is our dignity and our effort in achieving somthing that we want to achieve. oh well, my practical exam is on the 21st oct and my oral is on the 23rd oct. gettig ready to go through it, and i'm now busy as a bee. i've just done 2 of my case studies today, upper abdomen and female pelvic. hopefully, they will aprove it so i won't have to do it all over again. now, i'm worried, and worrying till i just don't where to start my task. tomorrow i'll be going to the college again and as usual scanning patients. in a few weeks time, i'll be finishing this course, which i can't wait any longer. and, by then i'll be at my hometown shaking my legs off. hoorraaayyy...!!!

Cream Puff

Choux Pastry Recipe
This recipe makes enough for 12 good sized cream puffs, or 24 smaller ones.

* 1 cup water
* 6 tablespoons butter
* pinch of salt
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 1 cup flour, sifted after measuring
* 3 large eggs

In a saucepan mix the butter, salt and sugar with the water, and heat until the water boils. Remove from heat and immediately add all of the flour. Beat with a wooden spoon until the dough forms a ball and detaches from the sides of the pan.

Add the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next one. (This is a workout by the way!)

choux pastry steps

To make cream puffs, work with two tablespoons, one to scoop and one to scrape. Place mounds of dough on a nonstick cookie tray, spacing them somewhat apart. You can also use a pastry tube to form longer mounds for eclairs.

Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.

To fill the puffs, after they have completely cooled, cut off their tops and spoon in filling. Replace top and sprinkle with powdered sugar or perhaps drizzle with chocolate or caramel if you wish.

If you want to get really fancy, you can use a cake decorating tube to pipe the filling in through a hole in the side.

i've always loved cream puff. i purchased them at papa beard's stall. it's yummy and delicious. uhhmmmm....

The little one in me

3 years ago

during my undergraduates days

The little one in me literally means the childish character of yourself? that's what mine suppose to be. i feel like being young again. Reading sweet Valley High, being force to practise my piano by mum, attending interact club meetings, writing notes in church while the pastor is preaching, playing "house" after the children's choir practise on sabbath afternoons, can't wait to go and have dinner at kfc every end of the month (my mum prohibits me eating fast foods all the time), listen to my grandma's bedtime story and lots more. Isn't it an astonishment that I'm actually 23 years of age now? I miss hugging my dad and mum. I miss them both. I love them both. I miss my dad's jokes and how I used to come back from school, having the feeling of excitement of what is my dad cooking at home. See, my mum is a teacher. So, everyday she will be fetching me from school and my dad is the one who will be cooking for. He's a businessman, got his own company, being his own boss, so, he's having the flexible time. Owh, I miss those times...whenn i was just a little girl.

my mind...

looks narrow ahead but that's not actually what it is. we always think that it is going to the difficult lah, impossible lah... daa... daa... and all the negative thught are playing in our mind when we are at a panic state, worrying state. this is exactly what am i going through right now. i have to sit for my resit paper tomorrow at 8.30a.m. and i'm glad that i understand what am i studying again for now. when we see narrow things, such the narrow road ahead, it is actually not narrow at all when we are actually going through it just the road at the picture. it's just a human thing you know thinking negatively and not optimisticly. i just hope that i can get through the exam tomorrow. wish me all the best.

Selamat Hari Raya

Today is Hari Raya and where all Muslims worldwide is celebrating Eid ul-Fitr which means a muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. I still remeber on Hari Raya my family and i will go on visiting to visit our muslims friends on this day. and my main purpose to follow them is food, food, as usual. and, they will serve all kinds of malay delicacies such as, rendang, curry, satay, ketupat, lemang, kuah satay, ayam masak merah (which i love the most), some also serve nasi briyani, and a lot more. my cousin is married to a muslim. so, every time on raya, we will first go to her house and eat 'puas-puas' because her food are all yummy, then only we go on to my father's friend's house. its fun you know, where i was like a lil girl once ago came to this person's house and they were like seeing me growing up year by year. and the famous sentence is, "anak kitak dah besar owh... cepat eh..." meaning, wow, your child has grown up now, hmmm...how time pass. and they will like giving me the duit raya and layan we all bagus2x. most of them are my dad's associates and some of them were my dad's workers, some were my mum's student house. hmmm, miss thoose days.... oopppps my tummy is asking for food now. i feel like eating those. but, sticking of my vegetarian diet, later my bf and i will go to a vegetarian restaurant. so, wait for the pictures.

Roast Vegetable Pasta Salad Recipe

Roast Vegetable Pasta Salad

This is another one of my lazy – but healthy – vegetarian recipes.

Chop 1 medium eggplant, 4 tomatoes, 1 red onion into quarters. Put into a slightly greased oven pan. Throw in 5 cloves of garlic (unpeeled). Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Salt and pepper.

Roast at 180ÂșC for 1 hour. While you’re waiting, Boil 250g of spiral pasta.

When roasting is done, toss in a handful or two of fresh spinach leaves and fresh basil leaves. The heat makes the spinach wilt a bit.

Take out garlic cloves, unpeel, squash. Whisk with ¼ cup of olive oil and ¼ cup of balsamic vinegar. Pour this into the roasted vegetable mix.

Tip in pasta, toss everything, and eat immediately.

i'm gonna try and make this tomorrow if i can get all the ingredients.

reasons to go on vegan...

gosh... i'm blotted now. i just ate lemang and ikan masin. and i don't like the taste of it in my mouth right now. hmmm... just a split second ago, i was thinking, why don't i go on a vegetarian diet? good idea huh? well, it has been like years ago since i started to go on a vegetarian diet but i just couldn't achieve it. well, due to a lot of reasons perhaps. food, food, nice food around me makes me want to eat and eat all the time. i'm talking about char kuew tiaw, Macdonald's, Wendy's, tgi Fridays, jogoya, kim gary, nasi lemak mamak at seapark, ipoh hor fun at seapark etc. these are my most visited restaurant. damn... all those sinful indulgence. i need to slim down. come on, wake up gina!! it's time for you to loose some pounds and hit the gym or exercise or something. i was browsing the net at the same time when blogging, i found reasons people go on a vegetarian diet.

Top 10 reasons to go vegetarian

1. Lower disease risk Such as heart disease, many types of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, food poisoning, obesity... Vegetarians pass up flesh foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fat, and lacking in dietary fibre. Plant foods on the other hand contain antioxidants and a variety of phytochemicals that protect against disease.

2. Live longer A major study published in the British Medical Journal found that vegetarians outlive meat eaters by six years. The study tracked 11,125 people over 12 years and adjusted for smoking and socio-economic status.

3. Compassion You won't be supporting an industry that raises animals in cramped, overcrowded spaces, artificially breeds them, separates them from their young, denies them sunlight and fresh air – and then trucks them to slaughter.

4. Save wilderness Meat production requires huge amounts of land, energy and water – which leads to habitat loss, soil erosion, water depletion, and pollution from pesticides and animal waste.

5. For an ocean of love The oceans are being overfished, coral reefs are being destroyed and sensitive seafloors are getting raked with drag nets. Many species are threatened, including dolphins, seabirds and turtles that get snagged in the nets. Fish feel pain, they just lack vocal chords to express it.

6. Expand your taste horizons Vegetarian meals can be diverse, fast, colourful and delicious!

7. Sex Research has shown that the heart and brain are not the only organs that get clogged arteries due to a diet high in meat and cholesterol.

8. No more dirty dishes caked with animal grease.

9. Great excuse to... avoid everything from Aunt Flo’s hamburger casserole to the latest greasy offer from the fast food chains.

plus...

my ultimate reason...

10. SLIM FIT... hahaha
